SafeSurfing aimed to support people with a learning disability to know what personal information they should share online, how to protect their personal data and surf the web safely. The internet is useful in many ways and many of us use it every day. However, sometimes there can be risks and dangers, such as people stealing personal information and cyber bullying. People with a learning disability are especially at risk of being hurt, so to tackle this, the SafeSurfing project taught people with a learning disability to use the internet in a safe way. We trained people with a learning disability in data protection and what safe online behaviour looks like through online training sessions, to give them the support and knowledge they need to decide what information they want to share with others. The internet is useful in many ways, however sometimes there can be risks and dangers, such as stolen personal data and cyber bullying.
The impact of learning disabilities is lifelong. The issues that made school work so challenging as a child crop up again in the workplace, in social situations, and in our homes. Paperwork and reports at work; keeping up with bills; and helping our children with their homework can be a struggle. Maybe you grew up knowing you had a learning disability and received special education services. Or you struggled with learning difficulties and never knew exactly how to identify the problem. As an adult, you are probably now in command of a number of techniques that make life easier.
Do2learn provides thousands of free pages with social skills and behavioral regulation activities and guidance, learning songs and games, communication cards, academic material, and transition guides for employment and life skills. Our team searches out the most talented and creative teachers and clinicians across the world. These gifted individuals work with our technical experts to transfer their knowledge into formats that we can make available to you.
